Description:   This dataset describes areas associated with the control of Red Imported Fire Ants (RIFA) as part of the National Red Imported Fire Ant Eradication Program (NRIFAEP). Queensland was declared as a pest quarantine area (PQA) for fire ants under section 11 of the Plant Protection Act 1989 in 2001. Within the PQA a restricted area can be declared under section 49 (1) of the Plant Protection Regulation 2002 (hereinafter referred to as the Regulation) to prevent fire ants spreading and to assist in the pests eradication.
